Skoda Owners Recreate Famous Rally Car
When the Skoda owners club recently joined the Lightcliffe affiliates we had a strong feeling that the partnership was going to flourish. As well as attending their numerous events over the calendar year and developing an association with a team of like-minded people, it was also discovered that the committee at the club have many hidden talents.
David Whiting who is a founder member of the Northwest branch of the club is one of those rare individuals who can practically build a Skoda from the ground up. With an enviable knowledge of the internal workings of these machines he would probably win any mastermind competition with flying colours if they could find a researcher with enough knowledge to compile enough questions.
One of David’s recent projects, with the help of his son Andy, was to rebuild the classic Skoda Felicia Rally car which made a name for itself in the 90s achieving third place in the 1996 world Rally championship, F2 class.
The car pictured here was lovingly put together by father and son with careful attention being paid to the visuals, apart from the Lightcliffe Skoda logo which didnt actually exist in 1996.
The good news is that this exact car will be available, along with many others, for all Lighjcliffe customers to view at the forthcoming 2024 classic car day which will be held at the Winwick Road dealership.
So big thanks to David and Andy for doing such a fantastic job on this cherished car and watch this space for news on the 2024 event.
