FREE WINTER HEALTH CHECK

A major strategy for major retailers in the consumer age is to jump on the Christmas bandwagon as soon as possible and the 1st November is now the norm.

Whilst we would never want to dampen our customers Christmas spirit, we also feel that any responsible retailer should spend some time thinking about the safety of their customers as the nights get darker and colder.

As it’s probably a little early to start celebrating the 12 days of Christmas we have come up with 12 key safety checks for the season and more importantly we are offering to do most of these for you free of charge in our winter health check offer.

If we start with three easy ones that you can do these yourself.

  1. Fuel – Always check you have plenty of fuel in the tank for your journey. It may sound obvious, but you’d be surprised just how many people run out of fuel, particularly in harsh winter weather.

  1. Interior - Keep things clean with a regular interior clean, clearing out footwells, wiping down your dashboard and keeping only the essentials in your boot. This should include drinking water and a couple of rugs. A clean interior also keeps you safe on the roads – you don’t want any discarded bottles dangerously rolling underneath your pedals.

  1. Exteriors - Keep the outside of your car clean with a regular wash. If you’re doing it by hand, focus on the headlights, brake lights and number plates as these help you see and be seen on the roads. Always keep all windows clean and clear. As well as being unsafe, an unclean windscreen that limits your view of the road could see you fined for driving a car in a “dangerous condition.”

The rest of the tips may not be so something that you want to do yourself but the good news is that Lightcliffe is offering all of its valuable customers a Free Winter Health Check for 2024. This check includes.

  1. Oil – This is to ensure it is at the correct level. Low oil levels can cause breakdowns and lead to catastrophic engine damage if left unresolved.

  1. Rubber – Tyres will be checked for general wear and tear, splits, or bulges, and crucially tread depth along with pressure. Wiper blades will also be checked as these won’t last forever and need replacing from time to time due to splits and cracks.

  1. Coolant – Again very important especially in the winter months so we will check your car’s coolant level to ensure you don’t overheat or even freeze.

  1. Electrics - There are plenty of electrics in your car – from headlights and fog lights to your battery – and they all need to be checked regularly to keep you safe.

  1. Screen wash – we will check your screen wash level in the tank under the bonnet, topping up if necessary, with a quality screen wash. Important specially in winter for cleaning dirty windscreens and ensuring that your visibility is always clear. (Note – screen wash can be dangerous for your furry friends so make sure that any spare screen wash is put away safely)
  2. Engine air filter - A faulty or clogged-up air filter could reduce your fuel efficiency and lead to reduced engine power.
  3. Spark plugs - Spark plugs are integral to the running of your engine and one or more faulty plugs will cause an engine and even break down.
  4. Brakes – The importance of brakes goes without saying and as well as checking the brakes are fully functional and intact, we will also check brake fluid level and top up where required.
  5. Heater / Air conditioning – whether or not your car has air-conditioning a fully functioning heater is essential for the winter months.

Lightcliffe Skoda Warrington is a trading style of Clare James Automotive limited which is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allow Clare James Automotive Limited to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.
We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes Volkswagen Financial Services. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to Volkswagen Financial Services, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and Volkswagen Financial Services also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms, and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required.
